Carlton Ware Vert Royale 'New Mikado' Trinket/Cigarette Box - 1940s

Vert Royale is a colourway not as well-known to some collectors as the more available Rouge Royale but, nontheless, these products are just as, if not more so, eye-catching and rather scarcer.

This traditional Oblong Box is either a Trinket or Cigarette Box . It is almost certain that it was a cigarette box when first introduced but today they make excellent trinket boxes in their own right.

The box is in excellent condition with no obvious detrimental marks or scuffs with just an occasional small area where the gilding has been slightly rubbed inside the rim of the box. There is just slight evidence of very faint crazing, also inside the box..

It has a length of 5.25 inches (13.25 cms) and is backstamped accordingly with the extra 'Vert Royale' designation.

Pattern number 4362.
